Have a retirement visa and have left country and returned before 90 day check in. Do I still need to check in with immigration or does reentry count as check in?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After returning to Thailand on a retirement visa, you need to submit a 90-day check-in report starting from your most recent entry date, not the previous one. Each departure and re-entry resets the 90-day reporting period. While many local offices may not require a TM30 report if returning to the same address, it's best to confirm with your local immigration office.

You are reporting 90 consecutive days in Thailand.

Each departure and re-entry restarts the 90-day clock; your next check-in will be 90 days from your most recent date of arrival.

You may have to report your address on a TM30, this year it changed that if your returning to the same address you don't have to report, however, some offices still want you to report, check with them.

whether or not you need to file a new TM30 is immigration office dependent. Originally I didn't have to file one when returning from overseas, then I had to file one when returning from overseas, now I have to file one if I spend even 1 night in a hotel. Staff changes at the immigration office resulted in rule changes

No, your next 90-day report due is the 90th day counting from the latest entry date as day 1.

The system doesn't automatically update the due date according to your entry date; you need to calculate it yourself.

You may need to do the first 90-day report after new entry to Thailand in person, as most offices require, depending on your local office.
