What are the options to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand as a guardian of a child with an ED visa?

Hi all.

We're moving to Thailand at the end of July and I've just applied for my daughter's ED visa.

I'm trying to now apply for my non immigrant O visa as her guardian, but that particular option on the E-Visa site isn't working.

I've been on hold for 2 hours to the embassy and can't get a response from them via message, so do you think as a last resort it would be an option for me to come in on a tourist visa and then do a border run after 90 days?

I'm vaccinated so hoping quarentine won't be enforced after October in Hua Hin.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to move to Thailand and has applied for their daughter's ED visa. They are facing issues applying for their Non-Immigrant O visa as a guardian due to technical issues with the e-visa site. They inquire about the possibility of entering Thailand on a tourist visa and then performing a border run after 90 days. Community comments suggest that entering Thailand on a visa-exempt basis and ensuring financial requirements are met will be necessary for applying for the guardian visa once in Thailand.

You cannot get a Non O based as a Guardian without meeting the financial requirements for the visa.

But are you planning on entering Thailand in October? That’s 4 months away.

That was only in case I had to leave and return after 90 days. We'll be arriving at the end of July

I've been told I can only apply for the visa from the UK so wouldn't be able to do it over there.

I'll be signing up to the language school there. Are ED visas from there still an option?

@Lindsay ******
actually because of Covid you can’t get an ED Visa outside and have to come on TR and change to ED Visa here. Straight forward and schools will help but need to apply 35 days before your TR expires

you can get an Ed visa inside Thailand at an approved language school. Ask on a local Facebook group which language school would be best for your needs.

Remember though, if you do want to go to Thailand to study the language, you can only study it for a year, then you'd have to find another way to stay in Thailand legally.

ahh okay. Can the visa not be extended if you continue to study?

@Lindsay ******
No it can not, at least, not for Thai language. I do not believe the Thai government is approving people entering Thailand for studying other languages right now.

Of course, you can enroll in a university in Thailand as a degree seeking student, and you can stay for the length of your degree program.

Borders are CLOSED.

NO border runs possible.

Enter Thailand as visa exempt on arrival entry.. Then deposit the 500,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only and apply for the Guardian visa as mother of child with an Ed Visa which she will need to obtain from the school she is to attend.
