Do my child and I need to re-apply for our Thai Education Visa and Dependent Visa if we switch to another school in Chiang Mai?

Good day everyone.

I have a question regarding Thai Visas and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone with with similar experiences could help me out.

My family has moved over to Thailand for 2 years. Currently, my kid is enrolled in an international school in Chiang Mai with a Thai Education Visa. I have an 'O' Dependent Visa which is tied to my kid's Education Visa.

I am currently considering a switch of school for my kid within Chiang Mai. Should that happen, do both my kid and myself need to re-apply for both the Education Visa and Dependent Visa instead of a simple extension? Do we or I need to return back to country of origin should a reapplication be required?

Thank you. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the visa implications of switching their child's school in Chiang Mai after having been in Thailand for two years with an 'O' Dependent Visa connected to their child's Education Visa. The community response indicated that typically both the child and the parent would need to reapply for their respective visas due to the change of school, although cooperation between the current and new school might allow for a smoother transition without leaving Thailand. It was advised to consult with both schools and local immigration authorities for specific guidance.

Right, as a rule, your child and you have to do the whole process over again with a new school.

But IF the child's current school and the new school can collaborate closely for you, there might be a possibility that you may be able to apply for a new visa and the following extension for your child and you without leaving Thailand. Talk with both schools and the local immigration office well and well in advance.

Others' experiences may not help you unless they who have the same nationalities as you for a parent and child changed from the exact same school with you to the exact same new school in the same province.

Thank you Ellie for taking the time to answer my post. I completely understand your reply. A lot of things are still dependent on the variables pertaining to the provinces and key parties involved. I'll heed your advice and talk to the schools and immigration office to get a clearer picture. Greatly appreciate you help.

Thank you admin for permitting me to post my quires.
