If I enter Thailand with a Non Imm O visa, and want to stay 6 months, I have to do extension in Thailand after 90 days. I do have the 800000 baht on my account there for this purpose. But what about the health insurance? Can I show my international health insurance from Germany or will I have to buy an extra Thai health insurance? Thank you for advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For a Non-O visa extension in Thailand, it's clarified that health insurance is not a requirement. The respondent mentions that international health insurance from Germany should suffice. Additionally, discussions regarding financial requirements for extensions and the implications of re-entering Thailand after leaving are addressed, emphasizing the need for a re-entry permit to maintain the validity of the visa.

no. Non-O received inside of Thailand is zero entry. You get 90 days from the day it's issued and must purchase a re-entry permit if you want to leave the country and keep the visa alive. The re-entry permit means it will stay valid while you're outside of Thailand until the date shown on the visa. As long as you return by then nothing will change. But if you don't buy the re-entry permit then it's gone the moment you leave Thailand.

I get retired Non O visa multi enter. I can use it to 23 August 2023. I need go out of country after 90 days. If I go to Vietnam for few days, do I have 90 days again when I entar Thailand again, I will stay 6 months in Thailand.

just curious why given 90 days when you have a non immigration O visa or OA visa which is a long stay for a year. Shouldn’t you get a 365 days stamp?

@Philip ****
a Non O is a 90 day visa you can extend from this based on marriage /retirement at most immigration offices or leave and come back till it expires getting 3 months on arrival ( no insurance required).

A Non O-A is a 12 month Visa and you will get stamped in for 12 months or the length of your Insurance every time before it expires.

Used wisely you can get 2 years from the 1 Visa.

You can also extend O-A based on marriage/retirement in Thailand but will need Insurance.

thanks, yes will stick to the non OA. Cheers

I apply E visa in Iceland. I not need show insurance. I show bank statements for 220.000 Nkr (800.000 bath) This only cost 1.700 Nkr (6.500 bath). If I apply in Thailand it will cost 22.000 bath (non O +one year visa)

I am going to travel to Vietnam and Myanmar anyway so I choose this.

Thank you all for good answers 🤗

so if they say extend if not leaving within 90 days maybe they actually mean you must do the 90 day report as extension, they are not saying you must leave to extend are they. I think you will be stamped for 1 year. I just looked at my old OA and I was

that will be great if this is the case. Thanks!

@Philip ****
I don't think you actually have to leave after 90 days but you must do a 90 day report to immigration every 90 days. Someone may confirm this. I am on OX but never stay the 90 days so never had to do a report.

You need to leave after every 90 days stay if you have a non O multi-entry visa applied outside of Thailand. You only need to report your address every 90 days if you have a visa extension obtained in Thailand.
Philip *****
@Wayne ********
yes 90 days reporting of address is a must from my reading of the embassy guidelines but 90 days extension (if you don’t leave the country before 90 days and get a new stamp) is something new to me and not in the guidelines. What is the process / doc required to get the 90 days extension. I’m on non immigration OA visa.

@Philip ****
why if on OA do you need extension? What date did you get on your arrival stamp ? 1 year ?

I am OX and get stamped in for 5 years each time so I don't need to do any extension
Philip *****
@Wayne ********
I just got my OA visa expiring Aug 2023 and when I collect my passport at the embassy, they told me that I need to extend every 90 days (clarified via email again with embassy with same response) if you are not travelling out of country before 90 days is up. I will be arriving first week of October and I will know how many days stamp I’m getting.😅

@Philip ****
What was the exact wording they used for the need "to extend every 90 days" ? Can you copy/paste the exact words from your email about the 90 days ?
Philip *****
And if I renew my OA visa in country before Aug 2023, I suppose I will get an O visa which also means I don’t need any local Thai health insurance during my renewal. Is my understanding correct? TIA

@Philip ****
you cant renew a Visa.

You can get an extension based on marriage, retirement.You cannot change from Non O-A to a Non O.

If you extend a Non O-A you will need to meet the Insurance requirements
Philip *****
@Lee ******
oh I can’t apply for a new O visa next year while I’m here soon on OA visa?
Philip *****
Assuming I let the OA lapse.😀
Lee *******
If you let it lapse you need to leave
Lee *******
@Philip ****
no you cant change from Non O-A to Non O in Thailand.
Brandon ************
@Símon ***************

Non-O does not require insurance for an extension.
