TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the necessity of having a return flight to Thailand given their 60-day eVisa and plans for extension. A commenter clarified that proof of onward travel could be requested at both check-in for the flight and upon entering Thailand, highlighting that it largely depends on the individual's travel history and the discretion of the immigration officer.
that's gonna come down to your previous entry/stay history and the officer at passport control when you stamp in to the country.
Could you be asked for proof of onward travel within the days you'll be stamped in for?
Yes you most definitely could both when you check IN to your flight to thailand by the air carrier and when you stamp into thailand at passport control.
If you check in without any onward travel (and you haven't been living here the last two years on covid extensions) you should not have any issue at passport control.
