Do I need to apply separately for my dog's visa extension when extending my own visa in Thailand?

Hi everyone, sorry, this is a long one and, possibly, an unusual question. Not sure if anyone has had similar experiences. I have finally arrived in Bangkok with my dog and have a few days before the onward journey.

Everything went well at the airport, I have my 90 day visa and the dog went straight through. To my shock however, I was told the dog can only stay 60 days!

When I apply for a visa extension, do I have to apply separately for the dog or does she have the automatic right to stay if I do?

I assumed once she had an import license, (which does not mention any time limit) that was it for her and I wouldn't have to do anything else until we eventually left.

Thanks for reading and any help and advice anyone has is greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification about visa requirements for their dog after being informed at the airport that their dog can only stay in Thailand for 60 days, despite having an import permit. They are uncertain whether the dog needs a separate visa extension when they apply for their own visa extension. Several comments suggest reaching out to pet relocation specialists and sharing personal experiences about similar situations to provide reassurance and possible insights into the requirements.

Get youdog to fill in form 601-d, two copies required. Dog will need photos,recalled for an interview with someone who does not speak the same language. Dog will be told to make multiple copies of birth cert. Mother fathers birth cert, death certs if applicable. 2nd interview will follow when you are told everything must be translated and certified by a notary public, next meeting, rejected as enough dogs here already and yours is way to tame

You don't have a 90 day visa. You and your dog got 60 days.

I suspect there's been a miscommunication, like perhaps the dog can only stay 60 days until it will require new paperwork to export again, or something like that? I arrived on a shorter visa exempt stamp and converted to long term visa after arrival, there was no question or issue about that wrt my dog, nor in the past 15 months!

Couple of things for clarity here if that’s ok. What visa have you arrived on? Non-o or 60 day setv visa high you will extend giving you a total of 90 days?

I came here with my dog nov 22’ and was on setv, we were never questioned about onward travel and we arrived with the intention of staying much longer.

thanks, normal 90 day visa (where you can stay for 60 days which really confused me to start with) my intention is to extend then any for a retirement visa.

@Amanda *******
so you got 60 day stamp which when extended gives total of 90 days right?

I wouldn’t worry to much on the dog front I think they’ve probably just tried to trip you up to see your intentions. Our dog doesn’t have any paperwork regarding a passport or visa she just has all the necessary paperwork to be able to fly again if and when necessary.

We arrived with 90day non o - dog import permit does not hv time limit as you say and no such visa for dog. Did you apply for a temporary permit for animal?
