What kind of visa do I need to bring my pet to Thailand from Australia?
Good morning everyone, just a quick question... what kind of visa is required to bring your pet into Thailand from Australia.. has anyone had to present a visa for this process... thank you in advance 🙏

Hi, my dog has electronic chip, a pet passport and all the vaccinations up to date. I brought it from Germany to Malaysia. Now that I’ve relocated my self to Thailand. I want to know how can I obtain an import permit for pet? I remember doing an import permit from Malaysia before the pet arrived and an export permit was done from the country it was flying from. Also, rules may differ here, but the dog was kept in quarantine in Malaysia for 7 days before claiming it back home.

OPI’m sorry Jaseem I don’t know I’m using a company from Australia called Aeropets and their agent in Bangkok who is flying my dog to me in Phuket, is Boonma, maybe you can give them a call or search the net for answers.. 😊

U can not return a dog to Australia with out it spending 6 months in an approved country having a pile of tests
Then quarantine in Australia so it's all very expensive and hard on the pet

I have heard of amounts of between 4 and 6 thousand Australian dollars to get the dog from the approved country back into Australia plus the costs of the dog staying for 6 months in an approved rabies free country assuming you knew someone in the approved country who would care for it for those 6 months

I researched this and now it's not an option
Also finding accomodation that allows dogs I was told is difficult I have decided to wait out the dog as she is quite old

When I was collecting my cat at BKK the airline had someone waiting for me just off the plane to tell me where to go. I wish I had insisted he accompany me as a whole load of miscommunications and language issues ensued when I got to the livestock office. Having a Thai speaker with you will ease a lot of stress. I had to pay one set of fees in that office then again at customs on exiting baggage reclaim. Good luck!! 😸

Wrong question! From my own experience, I had to get the animal various vaccinations, with a certificate, and get her an electronic chip. Some airlines will allow small pets to travel with you but there aren't many that do this.
Best thing is to check with your airline first, and think about getting a specialised pet transportation service to do everything for you.

OPThanks David, I was thinking the same that indeed it is a wrong question, as Aeropets my pet travel company has asked I present my visa and I didn’t think it was mandatory... I have fulfilled all there other obligations but just needed clarification on this... thank u 😊

you can bring your pet here on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp if you want to. It's not the visa you're on it's making sure the paperwork is all correct to import a pet to thailand

I totally understand... but quarantine for a month i could not imagine either. I do understand how important it is to protect the eco system in Australia. Took 3 dogs two years ago.. no problems ! They wanted me to pay import tax... early morning after a long flight I wasn't in the mood so I stood my ground with a return ticket in my hand stating that I of cause had no plan of leaving my dog here... so why the tax ? They let my go....

thank u Christina, 💕yes it is! Apparently quarantine for one month in Singapore first, than Melbourne Australia is the only quarantine in the country..has to have all vaccinations prior to leaving and could cost thousands for his return... has been an intense decision to say the least but leaving our baby behind is not an option..Cristina **************
Takes some time to get your dog ready... if vaccines and rabies are up to date you will still need the blood test and the paperwork done... your vet know or will find out and make the dog ready for you.
Be aware of the problems bringing you dog back. I am no Australian but I heard it’s a nightmare! Good luck
