Hi!

I’m seeking clarification please.

I’m an Australian I visited Thailand in Jan 2022 (no visa just as a tourist for 21 days)

I’m applying for a 60 Day Tourist Visa to travel in December and hope to extend it 30 days after I arrive in Thailand. I may also look at a 6 month Education Visa if I enjoy learning the language.

Because I’ve been to Thailand previously this year do I need to request Multiple Entries 60 Days tourist visa?

Thanks very much in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian seeking a 60-Day Tourist Visa for Thailand does not need to request a Multiple Entry visa based on a previous visit. Multiple Entry visas are for those planning to leave and re-enter Thailand multiple times, which requires proof of such travel intentions. Standard applicants are generally advised against applying for Multiple Entry without a clear necessity.

No, you're looking forward, not backwards in requesting the visa. Multiple entry means the visa you received would allow you to leave and enter Thailand multiple times, and you would also have to prove need for it by showing tickets into and out of Thailand multiple times.

It's also rather expensive and if they don't think you need it they'll reject your application and switch you to single entry and keep your entire application fee.

Thanks very much. Very helpful. I have flights and accom but they are booked around 90 days rather than 60 - not sure if this will cause a problem in Visa approval?

Good call on them taking my cash! Thanks!!

some embassies will allow it and some will want to see your exit within 60 days. You can Google onward travel ticket and rent a ticket out before 60 days if that's what they want to see.

Hi
@Bra****
- just sharing this info for future reference. Thai Visa & Consular Services in Australia confirmed: having a return flight beyond 60 days will not effect 60 day Visa approval.
