Good morning. I have a new job and will travel to Laos this weekend to get a new Non-B visa. My current visa extension expires this Monday, June 30th, which is the same day that I'll leave Thailand and enter Laos. My question is, should my old work cancel the visa before I travel? I understand there is a cancellation stamp that I might need to have, before applying for the new visa. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to travel to Laos to obtain a new Non-B visa, as their current visa extension expires on the same day they are leaving Thailand. They are seeking advice on whether their former employer needs to cancel their old visa before they travel. Responses indicate that while a cancellation stamp may not be needed to obtain the new visa, it is necessary to have the extension canceled to avoid fines and complications related to future visa applications.
Donโt use Bangkok Bank four month hold hopefully SCB will be OK

You won't need the cancellation stamp to GET the visa via the online system in Lao, or enter thailand, BUT you will have to have that extension cancelled or you won't be able to get a new extension on this Non-B you're comin' back into the country on until you do <- and if you don't do it before you go you will be fined when you do go to cancel it
I would say YOU need to go get the extension cancelled from the immigration office that issued it, then leave the country and go apply for the new Non-B visa in Lao
