Does anyone know the DTV visa cancellation process?

I got the DTV visa 5 months ago. I’m in Thailand now and I’ve got job offer and have to apply for Non-B visa and work permit.

Please share me any experiences if anyone have gone through the process. πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa cancellation can be performed at Immigration Division 1 in Thailand and is a straightforward process. Once you apply for the Non-B visa, the DTV visa will be automatically canceled. It is advisable to consult immigration authorities for guidance and ensure that all documentation is prepared for a smooth transition from DTV to Non-B visa.

A DTV visa is multiple Entry visa. Although by essence once you apply for another visa the DTV will be deemed cancelled, since it is only a visa not base on a work.

However, to smoothly run the course of visa transition you can ask the immigration in chaengwattana to cancel the DTV to pave the way for another visa

Basically, they will give you a realtime advice, and give you a time frame for number of days to make a new visa.

You can immediately change also from DTV to Non b internally depending on the officer that will accept your case in chaengwattana especially if your documents are ready.

The DTV won’t be cancelled when you apply for a new visa. Only if another is granted.

Re-entry the country for a 60d stamp etc is a way.

You can only maintain one Thai visa at a time. If your Non-B visa is approved, the DTV will be automatically canceled.

Does that mean I do not need to cancel my DTV visa in advance but just to apply the Non-B?

For cancellation, it can be done at immigration division 1, doesn't take much time. For non-B, you will have to go out of the country and apply at a Thai embassy.

how long do you have after cancellation to leave the country?

your stay terminates the same day you cancel. You will have to pay overstay fine of 500 per day after that.
