What issues might my boyfriend face upon returning to Thailand after a 3-day overstay?

Hi!

Today my boyfriend and I came to Singapore so he could get another exit and re enter for another 30 day extension and I could get my non b from the Embassy. Unfortunately we did overstay in Phuket by 3 days, but we paid for it! When we arrived in Singapore though they would not allow my bf in because of the overstay, they said the don’t won’t to allow someone like that in the country and he doesn’t have paperwork for the embassy like I do. They are sending him back to Phuket tomorrow, why kind of issues will he face when he arrives? He has an offer letter from a school for a job but they’re still processing his paperwork for the non b, will they allow him to pay for another 30 day extension? I’m very worried about what to do next and making sure he can get back into Phuket!

Thanks for any advice! 🙂

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of facing immigration troubles in Singapore after their boyfriend was denied entry due to a 3-day overstay in Thailand. They are concerned about the implications of this on their return to Phuket, especially since he has an offer letter for a job but is waiting for his Non-B visa processing.

I believe that the OP has enough info to share with his friend..

We wish him success.

3 days overstay is barely a problem in thailand (unless you want to apply for elite visa), I guess overstay in thailand hurts you more in other countries

Yes it can and does. AND Singapore is strict... NOT a good choice for a visa run as the Thai Embassy in Singapore VERY strict too.

Who knows what will happen. Depends on the immigration officer on the day and his history in Thailand

Your friend should have no problem entering Thailand tomorrow... Visa exempt. Stamped in for 30 days.

Yes its all possible.

Keep in mind people, that you have never been asked when you enter the country to show proof of funds does not negate the fact there is indeed a rule on the books stating you CAN be asked to provide the 3 proof ofz when stamping in 😕

Those are

-proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH

-proof of onward travel within the number of days you'll be stamped in for

-proof of lodging

Failing to meet ANY of those things if you're asked is grounds for denial of entry to the country.
