I would appreciate any advice on my case. I am living on Phuket on non O visa (one year multi entry) based on the fact that I have a Thai baby. I got the visa in the embassy in Russia before coming back to Thailand. Upon arrival to Phuket I received a 90 days stamp in the airport. I have heard from friends with non O marriage visas that they only have to visit local immigration office every three months and extend the visa for another 90 days so I was sure I would need to do the same. But when I came for an extension, Thai officer told me I need to do border runs every three months to keep using the current visa, I can't just extend it locally (well only once for 60 days for family reasons but still). I am a bit confused and hoping I misunderstood something, don't feel like doing border runs at all. Thanks in advance!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the extension process for a Non-O visa linked to having a Thai child. They were informed that they must do border runs every three months rather than a local extension. Comments suggest that the user can apply for a 1-year Extension of Stay at the immigration office based on their Thai child, allowing them to avoid border runs. It's recommended to visit the local immigration office for clarification and to understand the necessary documentation.
