Hey everyone. I'm currently in jomtien and want to extend my 60 day visa exemption by 30 days. I've done this before in bangkok by myself and it cost just 1900 baht at immigration. I got quotes of 4500 and 4900 by visa agents here to avoid queues. Then i went to immigration here and the 'yellow shirts' there quoted me 4000 to take care of it. This still seems like a lot. The reason they gave was that they need to get me a TM30 (residence form, I'm staying in a hotel) approved by immigration. Can anyone confirm this is true or am i better off just doing it myself? And do i need a tm30 and how do i get it if i do (from the hotel?)? I don't remember needing a TM30 when i did it in bangkok.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Jomtien seeking advice on extending their 60-day visa exemption by 30 days. They've received various quotes for assistance, with some claiming a TM30 form is necessary for this process. Comments confirm that a TM30 is indeed required, typically provided by the hotel, and that the fees for extension help range significantly. The general consensus is that handling the process personally could cost around 1900 baht, while agents charge higher fees. Many contributors emphasize that hotels should already manage the TM30 reporting.

Is this serious?

Get the TM30 letter from the hotel with the dates you are staying and take it to immigration.

The yellow shirts can help you fill out the 30 day extension form for about 150 baht including the photocopies. Remember to take a passport photo or that's 50 baht.

It's not high season, won't take long to do the waiting yourself. If you don't want to wait what's the point of your question? Either accept their price or don't

like i said i have no idea how long the queues usually are here, and it seems pretty busy here for not being high season. Why the 'is this serious?' remark? I knew the yellow shirts provided this service for few hundred bath because i had read about it, but when i asked for it all the guy gave me was a sales pitch for the 4000 all inclusive service, hence my question. Knowing more about the value they actually provide also gives people more bargaining power to negotiate.

Eh?!

Tm30 is the responsibility of a property owner, for reporting of a foreigner staying on their property. If you are staying in a hotel, they should've submitteded within 24hrs of your arrival. Nowadays they do online, so you should already be in the system... Failure (by the property owner) is 4,000baht fine, per day, not reported... Property owner, not you

1900 is standard fee for extension

Eh??

There is no daily fine and it is not 4K baht. Section 77 Immigration Act 1979 is specific: failing to comply with TM30 reporting is punishable by a fine not exceeding 2k. If the failure was from a hotel manager fine is between 2k-10k.

ok so the fines changed, but the relevant point is, tm30 is no business of a tourist. Property owner's responsibility.

Standard fee for extension 1900

that is correct but if you’re standing in front of an Immigration Officer wanting a service guess who is going to be paying that fine…..

Do the same what you did in Bangkok before. 1. Ask your hotel for a TM30, fill out Form TM7, make the copies of your passport = 1900 Baht. 2. If you need help, take the service of the "yellow Shirts" beside the Immigration for 200 Baht or 3. take the help an agency for 4000 Baht. There are the 3 options, but you need the TM30 of your hotel. Good Luck. Don't worry too much. It's easy. 😊

The "yellow shirts" are dependable and get results. But how can they get you a TM30?

Ask your hotel to print it off . Don't forget if you go down the route of a agent 1900 of the fee is the cost of the visa .

I don’t think you can expect to get it any cheaper than 4000 baht including fee to the immigration.

Yes, you need a TM30. You need that for most immigration offices. Ask the hotel front desk for a copy of your TM30. Jomtien might require you to take the copy the hotel gives you and go to their TM30 desk and get their copy before they let you apply for your extension.

Note that Jomtien is one of the immigration offices that only allows you to apply for a tourism extension when you have a week or less left on your entry stamp.

but does the processing of the TM30 at immigration cost anything? If not i will save 2100 baht (minus the photocopy, picture and time cost) by doing it myself right?

Jomtien immigration does not charge a fee for getting a TM30, for showing a TM30 or for processing a TM30. There is no approval fee for the TM30. All utter bullshit by the agents. Go with a copy of the hotel provided copy of the TM30 filing and get your extension for 1900 baht.
