Do I need a TM30 form to extend my 60-day tourist visa exemption in Thailand?

I believe I (UK citizen on a 60 day tourist visa exemption) need a TM30 form to get a 30 day extension. The guesthouse I'm in at the moment says they can't give me a TM30. I asked 2 other places nearby: 2 more "sorry, cannot". I want to get it here in Ayuthaya but could re-locate to Bangkok. Would it be easier (or not required) there? Or can I create one myself? My 60d expires 10 days from now, so I'd like to get the extension in the next couple of days. Any help/suggestions appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a UK citizen with a 60-day tourist visa exemption, inquired about the necessity of a TM30 form to extend their visa, as their current guesthouse couldn't provide one. Community members clarified that while a TM30 is generally required for visa extensions, alternative solutions exist, such as presenting the receipt from the guesthouse to immigration. A successful example was shared where obtaining a TM30 was facilitated by showing Agoda booking confirmation to immigration, resolving the user's concern.

They are legally obliged to. My landlord refused and dragged their feet, immigration told me to let them know they would be fined otherwise and that finally resolved the matter.

SORTED! I followed Tod Daniels suggestion & got my guesthouse to print a copy of their Thai version of my Agoda booking confirmation. Ayuthaya immigration used this to produce a TM30 for me & the rest was straightforward. No suggestion of wrongdoing or a fine. I assume those mentioning fines are looking at it from an expats perspective. I'm an actual tourist, which will be clear to Immigration will from my stamps/record. Thanks for all input anyway.

i was told by imigration its up to the owner to do if thay dont, thay get into trouble. as long as you can show receipt that you stayed there for those days its ok, that was at sakon nakon. maybe differant at other places.

@Lee *******
that is good they are that lenient about it and that a receipt showing you're booked there will work

receipt all you need.

at some offices yes, BUT some other ones DO require a TM30 being filed showing you are registered as staying there

They have to give you a tm30 that's bullshit

sadly if they don't you have no recourse at all, the tenant needing the TM30 is the one who suffers and few if any offices in the country will call where you stay and tell them to file a TM30 for you

I was in Jomtien Immigration about 2018. These tourists didn't have a TM30 and were in line to get one. The Immigration Officer had them get their landlord on the phone. It was a long conversation in Thai. After the phone call the Immigration Officer said it was the landlord's responsibility to file it and pay the fine. The tourists were given the option to pay it if they wanted. I don't know what happened after that.

ask soon as you check in explain for immigration if they don't they are pure arrogant but however they are obligated to do this its a 5 minute job not 10 hrs to produce

many MANY small guest houses do not participate in the TM30 system even though they should by law. It's just a fact of life here in the glorious "Land 'O Thaiz"

People have had to go check in to a real hotel for a day to get a TM30 so they could apply for their extension

I followed your suggestion & it worked out (see above/below). Thanks alot. In my own personal experience, I've asked guesthouse owners for TM30 help 5 times in recent years & got the same answer everytime: "sorry, cannot help" & they always appear genuinely confused by the request. Is it safe to say the more you pay for a hotel, the better the chance of help with a TM30? (I tend to stay in 400-800 THB places)

If you've already been in Thailand for 50 days.. and you have never filed a TM30.. then you can expect to be fined.. it is the responsibility of the hotel (or guesthouse) to do it and technically they are in breach.. but it is you that will have to pay the fine to regularise it.. it's an easy online process that costs nothing to do.. and you need the print out or screenshot to prove its been done.. you can do it yourself but would need your a copy of your Thai landord's NIC (front and back) and blue book (main page) to upload to the system.. which they may be reluctant to give you.. I'd ask them if they would assist you to do it yourself.. by sitting with you while you do it so they can watch you upload and then delete the documents.. which may make them more comfortable.. suggest you involve an English speaking Thai friend to communicate with them if their English is poor.. to explain the severity of the situation and to encourage them.. otherwise you need to find another place to stay with a more helpful landlord ๐Ÿ˜

Most offices require you to have a TM30 filed to get an extension BUT you could just take the receipt of you staying at that guest house to the immigration office in Ayutthaya and ask them if you can do it using that address with just a receipt.

Certainly before I went to another city to try it I'd go ask the office where you are now. Worst they can say is you can't get an extension until you get a TM30, and who knows they may do it without you having one.
