Do I need a re-entry permit for my tourist visa before leaving Thailand?

Hello. Can somebody please have a look at this. I entered with a Tourist Visa of 60 days and got my extension in Trang for another 30 days. I saw now on the stamp the following writing: To keep your stay permit, re-entry permit has to be made before leaving Thailand. I am planning to go out of Thailand soon and come back in 2 weeks. How come this stamp has been placed if I have a Tourist visa? Do I have to go to immigration before I leave that I can re-enter? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on whether they need to obtain a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand after extending their tourist visa. Community responses explain that if the user leaves Thailand, their existing visa will become void unless a re-entry permit is acquired. However, as a visitor with a tourist visa, they can return to Thailand using a visa-exempt stamp or a new tourist visa, making the re-entry permit unnecessary in this scenario.

It doesn't pertain to you. A single entry tourist visa doesn't need a re-entry permit. Just leave and come back with a new tourist visa or get a visa exempt stamp, nothing else you need to do.

ur visa has expired< ur Extension is good till May 29>

When u leave it becomes dead>

just re enter on a 30 day visa exempt stamp

zero reason to pay 1,000 baht for a re entry permit as the extension is still ONLY valid till May 29th>

Whatever visa or stamp you have becomes void once you leave Thailand. Unless you purchase a re-entry permit before leaving.

You don't have a tourist visa. You used it already. This is saying if you leave Thailand the existing days you have will be gone, as it is with all entry stamps.

There's almost no point in getting a re-entry permit and paying 1000 baht for it. If you are from a visa exempt country you will get stamped in for 30 days when you return to Thailand which is longer than you would get if you kept your existing stamp. I'm not even sure every office will sell a re-entry stamp for a tourist entry.
