Pesky question here. If you have a Tourist Visa with single entry and fly in via international flight, stay a couple days in Bangkok, then want to fly to Phuket....does that second flight require a visa with multiple entry or would just the single entry visa work? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Thailand on a single entry tourist visa, you do not need a new visa to travel from Bangkok to Phuket or any other domestic destination within Thailand. Your visa is valid for all travel within the country for the duration of its validity.

What? You're already in Thailand. Your visa doesn't matter for domestic flights.

When you enter an airport or pass through an airport gate in any airport (in any county), many of the laws, rules, and regulations change. Kinda like a foreign embassy in a country. (in the US for example, when you just enter an airport, Federal law applies, not only state law). Airports are funny places rules wise. It isn't an unreasonable question. As a moderator, you should know that, and I am surprised by your response.

Given what I said above, I didn't know...so I asked. Now I know. Why the harassment from a moderator???

Not a single country in the world require a visa for domestic travel, this is why your question was weird.

find me a country anywhere in the world that requires a Visa for domestic travel

There are no visa requirements for internal flights. You get stamped in for x number of days at your arrival airport and then you can do what you like until x days expires.

Thx for the info.

As long as you stay in Thailand, no need for another visa.

For the great people's Republic of Phuket you need a special visa from the imperial Phuket embassy of your country!

It is easy enough to get, takes around 3-5 working days!

I hope I could help!☺️

I wonder if they shouldn't start with a standard IQ test when purchasing the ticket.

If you have a visa for Thailand, then it is valid for all of Thailand. You can then move or fly freely in the country for the duration of your visa.

Before in Covid times traveling internally was definitely a problem. Now all ok as others have noted. But a good question as I had the same concern in January travelling from Chiang Rai to Bangkok. But even then no problem but way back in the previous June it was close call getting from Bangkok to Chiang Rai

Dude it's the same country of course you don't need a different/new visa

If you take a direct flight from Bangkok to Phuket then you will not require another visa. However, if your flight takes to you to Tokyo then Los Angeles then Sydney then London then to Phuket, you most definitely will require a new visa.

Once you are admitted then you can travel within the Kingdom as much as you like and by whatever means.
