Do I need a return flight or will a one-way ticket suffice for my entry into Thailand on a tourist visa?

I’m travelling soon from Cambodia to Bangkok on a single entry tourist visa. Do I need a return flight or will one way suffice? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling to Thailand on a single-entry tourist visa, it's advisable to check with your airline regarding their specific policies on onward or return flights, as experiences can vary. While some travelers suggest a one-way ticket is sufficient, others recommend booking an onward flight to avoid potential issues at immigration. Several users also mention services that allow booking temporary tickets which can be canceled shortly after. Ultimately, it seems safer to purchase an onward flight, even if it's just to minimize risks at immigration.

Just book a onward flight ticket on Expedia, download a copy and cancel within 24 hours with no charge to your card.

Easy to do and I recommend flight to Danang Vietnam from DMK airport Bangkok for just $30 one way so it won’t break your bank 👍

Tell them you are leaving by train or land and that you can't get a ticket yet

Guess your one of those annoying people who everyone has to stand behind at Airport queues whilst you sort your life out!

Think you should go back to your day job “ Stop Oil and protesting in the middle of the Road”

Have you ever been to Thailand… Obviously Not

Anyway your getting boring now good bye🥱

what's really going to happen is if they want to hassle you they will and if they don't you can just tell them you are leaving by land.

@Bonnie ******
Yes of course imagine the scene

1,600 people in a queue to go through immigration and one person is trying for 45 mins to get internet connection and book and pay for flight out of Thailand and the Immigration Officer says

“No problem take your time” 🤣

You on some medication or what 🙄🙄🙄

@Stephen ******************
this is done all the time
Stephen *******************
@Bonnie ******
Sure and ask the Immigration officer to hang fire whilst you sort out a flight….. absolutely joke 🤣

you can always get one of those tickets if you have to. You can book one right there in the airport

not worth the risk then it’s like playing blind poker - stay safe book a flight and cancel it, what could be more simple

yes airlines are so inconsistent with this -some insist on onwards flight and others don’t.

@Bonnie ******
That doesn’t always work so why risk it book a flight and cancel it much less complicated

Your airline is the one who might ask you so check with them.
