Hi all, I’m going to be flying into Bkk at the end of August and a few days later flying internally from utp to Chiangmai - I’ll be on a visa on arrival - will I have any issues or should I apply for a multi tourist visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national flying into Bangkok will receive a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry, allowing them to travel internally in Thailand without any issues. There is no need to apply for a multi tourist visa.

you'll be fine traveling domestically .
Also remember IF you need more time here you can extend your 30 day visa exempt entry by 30 more days at the immigration office for 1900baht

Guess you are from the UK, you get a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry when you pass Immigration. You can stay 30 days inside Thailand and fly to every Thai city without problems.

you won't be on a visa on arrival because those are sold to people from 21 countries for 2000baht when they arrive here and are good for 15 days.
You'll be coming in on what's known as a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp. <- it has that name because you didn't BUY a visa from a thai consulate before you came here but due to your country of origin you were stamped in for 30 days with no visa.
You'll be fine traveling on it
