I have a question, coming to Thailand on vacation in December for a few months. But then leave for work in February for a few weeks. Return to Thailand for 2 weeks end of Feb but then in March go to China for 2 weeks work and then back to Thailand again for a few weeks then leave Thailand in April and return to the uk.

That will be 3 entries in 5 months. Will tourist visa’s be ok or should I look for a DTV

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the feasibility of using tourist visas for multiple entries into Thailand over a five-month period, during which they plan to travel between Thailand, China, and the UK. Comments from the community suggest that as long as the user's travel remains within typical tourist patterns and they are not seen as abusing the entry system, they should not face issues. It is noted that visa exempt entries can be used effectively for this travel plan, though individual immigration officer discretion is a factor.

METV is my vote. So long as your last entry is done within 6 months of the day they issue the visa.

I think you will be fine taking the 60 day visa exemption each time. Technically there’s no limit but, as always, it’s still at the discretion of the immigration official.

You may want to check your tax status, if you are likely to be in Thailand more than 180 days.

You can do all of that travel on visa exempt entries. No need for any visa.

I’m assuming you’re coming from a country that allows visa exempt entries rather than having to buy an actual tourist visa, but as you don’t state your passport country it’s just a guess.

Your plans of entering Thailand shouldn’t cause any issues. You are doing what a typical tourist could do. Generally immigration are on the lookout for back to back entries on either visa exempt of tourist visas that could indicate that you are potentially abusing the entry system or potentially working here.

That said it’s up to an individual immigration officer to assess your entry so no one can accurately predict what they’d think at the time you give your passport to them.

thanks for the advice, I did say return to the uk but should have been clearer. I will be arriving from the uk and maybe look for to get a O visa for the initial stay which could give me some options while I’m there for maybe a DTV

That's ok as long as you haven't spent most of the last 12 months doing similar
