Do I need to apply for a visa extension a few days before it expires in Thailand?

I am in Bangkok, my visa expires on September 7th, I want to get a 30-day extension. I want to go to September 5th or 6th. Is there a rule that I have to go through a few days before the expiration? Thank you very much. ,Have a good night.

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, you can apply for a 30-day visa extension anytime before your current visa expires, even a day or two before the expiration. There is no requirement to apply several days in advance. During the extension process, the 30 days are added to your existing visa's expiration date, meaning you don't lose any days by applying early. It's advisable to visit the immigration office early to allow time for any potential issues with your documents. Additionally, make sure to use the correct immigration office based on your residence address.

and as we can all see from this extension they ADD the 30 day extension on to the expiration date of their entry stamp (y) Meaning you don't lose any days going early ;)

, just so you know you need to use an address IN the area where the immigration office is located to get an extension. Meaning you can't use the Pattaya immigration office to get an extension using a bangkok address.

Also as people pointed out in Jomtien if you're staying at a private residence your land lord OR you needed to file a TM.30 form within 24 hours of you taking up residence there. OR you're gonna get a 1600baht fine for failure to have done it.

I'd say just go get your extension in Bangkok out at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road. The immigration office there doesn't care at all if you or your land lord ever filed a TM.30 form or not.

Always best to visit early, instead of the last day, IN CASE there are any problems with your documents you have time to resubmit without incurring any overstay penalty...good luck!

(y) both on the fact you can't use a bangkok address to get an extension from the Jomtien immigration office in Pattaya AND about whether a TM.30 will be required using the Jomtien immigration office (y)

not usually...depends on day you go. Avoid Monday and Friday. Midweek best. Early am. Or afternoon.

Thank you. It takes a few hours to do this?

Just go before it expires. They will add the 30 days extension to the original expiry date. So you will not miss out on any days from the extension. Also it's 1900 Baht.

If you go late, you would have to pay an overstay fine of 500B/day.
