When I go for a 30 day extension for myself and family, does my entire family need to be there? I understand it can be an all day process which would be difficult for my kids. Could I go with their passports and get all of our extensions without them there.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 30-day visa extension in Thailand, it is generally required that all family members be present for the process, particularly for passport photos. Some commenters suggested making an appointment to expedite the process, which can take about 30 to 45 minutes, rather than an all-day affair. However, it was noted that children under 15 do not incur penalties for overstays, and there's an alternative suggestion to travel to Kuala Lumpur instead of prolonging the extension process.

If your kids are under 15, save the money and font do an extension, nothing happens, there is no punishment for kids younger than 15

Make an appointment then you are in and out in about 45 minutes, not all day.

They have to be there. It doesn’t need to be all day. Make an appointment and it won’t take more than about 30 minutes.

we are just going to visit kuala lumpor for a weekend instead. Extensions for us all is $209 usd and round trip flights for the 4 of us are only $278. We'll take a quick vacation and come back on a free 60 day

A point to consider. Children don't get charged for overstay

If you decide to extend your child, it should be in immigration too. Even he is 1 year old.

bluport. My wife and I were just talking. It's close to 8000 baht to extend. Flights for 4 of us to kuala lumpur aren't much more than that. I think we will take the opportunity to visit there for a weekend and come back with a free 60 day stamp.

Most offices will require all applicants to be there and most offices it's a fairly straight forward process.

Really depends where you are.
