TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to obtain a 6-month visa for Thailand, specifically a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) if you apply from your home country or a country where you have legal residency. However, there are certain requirements, such as demonstrating sufficient funds and potentially possessing a valid employment letter. If the individual is already in Thailand, they cannot apply for a new 6-month visa; they will need to consider different options.

@Ann *******
if they're still in S/A they can apply for a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa

, okay IF you tell us where you are now people might be able to give you accurate advice.

If you're already here in thailand, nope you're not gonna get a 6 month visa from any consulate in a nearby country.

IF you're still in S/A you could get a 6 month METV from the consulate there BEFORE you wing your way here.

So letting us know where you are will help get you accurate advice..

But the O-A must be applied for in your home country of South Africa

You are South African and had asked recently about the O-A retirement visa.

Why are you not pursuing it? It's best option for you and husband.

At least some members did try their best to get some information. Please if you ask, give some information to help you out, like country of origin or passport and where you like to apply for a visa. Just the question are you able to get a visa is nice and the answer is: Yes, I'm able to get this visa, why you ask. I close the commenting. If you have any further questions, please open a new topic with some details to help you out.

You mean a multiple entry tourist visa? Yes, if you qualify. Edit: What's your nationality, and where are you at now? Generally, you can get them at:

1. Your home country.

2. The country you have legal residence in (i.e. have a work permit or a work visa)

3. Perth, Aus.

You'll also need money in the bank as well, and potentially additional documents (again, depending on your nationality).

I think any Australian consulate or the embassy will issue this provided you can show your valid Australian visa (as well as the other criteria).

I'm going to let Tod Daniels chime in, but from your consulate website, I found this document:

The biggest problem is, do you have 200K THB in your bank account for the last 6 months, and a letter of employment?

I'm guessing the second part would be no, because you're retired. Maybe someone else can chime in if that's going to be a problem.
