There is no standard 6-month visa for Thailand. However, there are specific options that can allow for an extended stay that approximates 6 months, such as the ED (Education) visa, which is initially valid for 90 days and can be extended for another 90 days, totaling 180 days. Some users mention the 6-month METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa), which previously allowed for a stay of 6-9 months but appears to be affected by current immigration rules. The conversation indicates that visa policies may evolve and recommends checking with immigration authorities for the most up-to-date information.

ahh, yes, I had it before. I was in TH for almost 2 years
Jeremy Miller. I'll believe that when it happens. And not one person has suggested how much it will open. The number of countries it will "open" to varies between 5 and 38. No one single mention has been made of land borders, and any land border opening requires agreement between two countries. Air arrivals require only Thailand agreement. I'm interested to learn how someone will apply for a COE whilst standing at some land border in the middle of nowhere. However, I repeat, if you think that's going to happen in the next 15 days good for you!!
I doubt very much you will be able to do border runs like before. I think those days have gone. Certainly for the moment. If you come in on a TR60 you better off converting it in country.( Ed,volunteer, non O ) otherwise enjoy your 90 days and prepare to go back home.

Jeremy Miller. Thank you! You've proved my point. 60 days! Thank you!!
yes hence the name 6 month Multiple Entry visa…you can still get up to 9 months on it…you do an Out/in same day (if you want) to a neighboring country (fly/drive)

Jeremy Miller. You are aware land borders are closed, and if you leave you have to reapply for a COE before you can re-enter? Not quite sure how you could fly to say Singapore, comply with their entry requirements, apply for a COE from the embassy, fly back to Thailand on the same day, but if you think it's possible good for you!

They used to have the 6 month METV visa that could turn into 9 months

Jeremy Miller. I think the OP wants to know what she CAN get, not about what could have happened in the past
with Thailand reopening it might be wise for the op to do some research to see if this visa is back in rotation

Jeremy Miller. It still only gives 60 days plus an additional 30. That's 90 days and you must then LEAVE THE COUNTRY, and restart the process by entering again with a new COE, insurance, possible AQ or SHA+. The STV allows a person to stay in the country for up to nine months
ed visa is possible to extend maximum for 1 year. If student enjoy to study only 6 months, means no more extension for the rest. First ed visa valid for 90 days and extend for another 90 days. Total 180 days / 6 months 😆
nope, there's a TR available, multi entry and valid 6 month. That means, if you re-enter on last day of validity, you may stay 9 months including the final extension.

Carsten von Holdt. It's valid for six months, but you're only stamped in for 60 days, with the option of a further 30 day extension. Then you have to leave
60 days multiple entry, valid 6 month. You need one border run, but in 3 months that won't be an issue anymore.

Carsten von Holdt. Aha!!! Border Run? 🤣🤣🤣🤣. So I'm totally correct. Can only enter for NINETY DAYS, then have to LEAVE THE COUNTRY. Thank you very much!!! Based entirely on guesswork as to what MIGHT happen in three months. However the STV allows a person to STAY IN THE COUNTRY without having to leave for up to nine months. 🤣🤣🤣

No and kinda yes if you do the extensions correctly on a STV visa, or Ed visa which is currently 8 months.

No

Closest is the STV which gives 3 x 90 days without leaving the country.
