Hey guys πŸ‘‹

Quick question - does anyone know if taking Thai language classes works to obtain the DTV visa?

If yes, do you have the name of a school that’s part of the official program?

Would really appreciate any tips or personal experience πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, enrolling in Thai language classes can help you qualify for a DTV visa, provided you meet specific enrollment requirements. However, the acceptance of this method varies by consulate, so it's crucial to check with the specific Thai consulate where you will apply. Schools such as Duke Language School (DLS) offer documentation support for DTV applications if you enroll in a sufficient number of modules.

What is your passport nation?

Where will you be living in Thailand?

Where will you be applying for the DTV visa?

Are You seriously planning on attending the Thai language course of study in person?

. The Duke Language School in Bangkok is among the finest in Thailand. Suggest you contact them for their Thai Language course of study AND they can provide you with the supporting documents needed for your application for the DTV visa. Ask Duke Language School where they have seen their DTV visa approved. AND suggest you ask the Thai Embassy in Paris if they would approve the DTV Visa if you are enrolled in the Duke Language School course of study ?

You can indeed enroll in a thai language school (you need to enroll in so many classes) to qualify for a DTV, I know several schools that offer the documentation for it

However it's much more consulate specific and not every thai consulate will let you sign up for a soft power DTV with thai language classes, some just won't do it

I know that DLS (Duke Language School, Trendy Building 3rd floor, Sukhumvit Soi 13) offers DTV support if you enroll in so many modules at their school

Duke offers DTV support? They told me they didn't offer support for the DTV. That was in the very early days of the DTV.

they don't push it because what they don't want is people signing up for the program just to get the DTV and then not attend.

It's NOT something they're marketing for at all.

They aren't the "where can I sign up for a cheap soft power DTV course" type of school. They're the real deal.

Ok, that's good they doing it. As you said though not all embassies accept those courses.

some embassies go so far as to issue the people just a 90 day Non-ED visa instead of the DTV when people apply using thai language courses and you lose the difference in the fee from the DTV / 90 day ED

Yes, I can see that happening. There are a few bybrid courses which cover Tbai language, cooking etc but limited hours of language study.
