Hi all, Has anyone got experience with ILS Language school in Chiang Mai ? I have been moving between Thailand and Vietnam for the last two years but was toying with the idea of applying for a DVT and taking part in an online language course with ILS. Iv been told, and read online, that Thai language courses are not acceptable when applying for the DTV, is this true ? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that Thai language courses do not qualify for the DTV visa; they are relevant to the ED visa instead. Alternatives mentioned for the DTV visa include Muay Thai classes, cooking classes, and other activities that support Thailand's Soft Power initiative. It's advised to check with the school for their track record regarding DTV visa approvals before committing, as combining courses may not guarantee a successful application.

You can attend an online language coursse without needing a visa, so why should it qualify for DTV?

why the attitude ?

I just don't understand how someone can think an online course could be a reason to get a visa.

What is the relation between those things?

You get a visa to visit a country for some reason, but why should you visit for an online course?

Maybe you can explain to me what is the relation between the course and the visa.

I think language classes qualify for ED visas only. DTV Soft Power is Muay Thai, cooking classes, and there's this thing called Discover Thai Nature seminars. You can check with language schools to see if theg have proven DTV success, but I wouldn't take that $400 chance (visa application fee) and also have the school tell you, "Sorry, no refunds!" for course fee.

Thai language class is an ED visa. If you apply DTV you will be denied

Pretty much no, tho some schools operate other activities such as Muay Thai as well. Only choose a language school if they have a verifiable track record of DTV approvals along with which embassy approved their documents
