TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses whether a Thai national can provide their foreign spouse with a lease agreement for a house they built together, as an alternative to using living expenses as proof for visa extensions. Various community members share experiences and suggestions, such as obtaining a 'house book', the benefits of registering on the house book, and alternative legal arrangements like usufruct. Some express frustrations with the changing immigration rules over the years and the complexities involved in securing residency status.
Not sure what you are asking for. You can get your wife to put you on the house book, get your own yellow house book and pink id card. When i did this they didn't ask for visa details. The hard bit it proving you are married; if you got married abroad your marriage cert will need translating to Thai and then approved by the Thai embassy in your home country.
You need ฿500,000 for the DTV but it's good for 5 years. You have to leave Thailand once every 180 days but don't need a re-entry and only need the 500k for initial application and when you renew in 5yrs. Needs to be in your account for 3 months prior to application and the lease would be your proof of residence.
If you like to go to the gym you can do the Muay Thai "soft power" DTV or the "Festival" DTV which is used for concerts/events. Each has their own checklist. Google can easily help you out.
I know someone who did this as an easy way of proving where they lived for visa extension and then after many years his wife apparently received a tax bill for the 'rent' he paid her. If you are just thinking about documents for the visa extension then what I do is get my wife to sign a letter/declaration in Thai stating that we live together in the same house and she comes with me to do the renewal. I'm on a retirement extension not a marriage extension and it's gone without a hitch for the last 14 years, in Pattaya and now in Khon Kaen.
Jord Reep no , I normally do a marriage visa, Im just sick of all the changes over the last 20 years , and I have heard that if you have a long term rental agreement you get a visa ,has to be cheaper than 400,000 in the bank, just fucking over all the changes.
They should introduce a m visa multiple entry, I'm married 20 years happily have house's cars dogs and looking after the mother in-law . Yet i have to do the same shit every year.
Curt Matoga why don’t you apply for Thai citizenship based on marriage?
You need knowledge and a plan.
Best to research citizenship for long term goals and consult a competent attorney in each jurisdiction you maintain substantial assets for comprehensive estate planning.
This would include a lifetime usufruct for the house with wills for both you and your wife.
