TLDR : Answer Summary
The participant has been living in Bangkok for nearly three years with a spouse, holding a Non-O visa. This visa does not allow the holder to obtain a work permit. To work legally, they would need to find employment and then apply for a Non-B visa from outside Thailand. Options discussed include teaching English, which is possible if one has at least a bachelor's degree. It's noted that non-native speakers may need to take the TOEIC test to secure a teaching position, but some local schools may have varying requirements.

I believe that
@Sandleen **********
now knows she can't legally get a work permit on the extension of stay she's on currently.

She'd have to FIND a job, then get documentation from her employer to go to a thai consulate to get the correct visa.

I appreciate everyone's suggestions as far as her finding employment BUT this is a thai visa advice group not a help me find a job group.

We're done.

what can you do?

@Sandleen **********
You DO NOT have a Non-B visa :/ Nor do you have an extension on a NON-B visa :/

You have a Non-O <- (the O means other) extension of stay because you are married to a foreigner who legally works here with the correct visa and a work permit.

You CANNOT get a work permit on that extension,

You would need to go out of the country and get the correct visa; A Non-B visa to work.

@Sandleen **********
You CAN, you just need to get a visa that lets you work meaning you need a Non-Immgirant Type B <-(the B means Business) visa.

IF you find a job your employer will give you the documentation to go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and get the 90 day Non-B visa.

@Tod ********
That means I can’t work here legally 😞

@Alex ********
yep, that's one of the restrictions on that visa/extension type. It is based on marriage to a foreigner who legally works here and thus the holder of it cannot legally get a work permit.

You have to go out of the country and get a Non-B visa based on employment.
Alex *********
Sorry didn't know that
Ahsan ********
How did you got NON B visa without work ?
Tod *********
You are correct
@Ah***
(y) dependents DO only get Non-O visas and extensions and they CANNOT work on them :O
Tod *********
@Sandleen **********
There is no such thing as a dependent Non-B :/

IF you have a visa/extension based on being married to a foreigner who legally works here you are on a Non-O visa/extension

@Sandleen **********
alright! Thanks for adding to my knowledge with your comment! Previously I thought dependables are only eligible to get NON O.

You will likely be required to achieve a certain score on a TOEIC exam since India is not considered a NES country.

@Alex ********
Yes I have bachelor’s degree and I had English as one of my major subject.
Alex *********
If you have at least bachelor degrees in any field, it should be not difficult. Just apply for job you can find on Facebook or local and see what happens. School should provide all documents you need for working permit

You are not a native English speaker, but can check here:
