Can I Work on a Non-O Visa Based on Marriage in Thailand?

Hey guys. Quick question. I am currently on a Non-O based on Marriage. I am thinking of starting to work in Thailand, so I want to know would it be possible to keep my visa and get a work permit or would I have to change it to a Non-B and then apply for the work permit? I don't really want to change it as it is such a pain to get it in the first place, so hopefully, I can just keep it as is and apply for a work permit...

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are on a Non-O visa based on marriage, you can legally obtain a work permit without changing your visa to a Non-B. Retaining your Non-O visa offers the advantage that if you lose your job, your visa status remains unaffected as it is not tied to employment.

Cool, so I would not have to leave Thailand for any of these things then?

OK, thanks for the info.

that's something you need to talk to your employer about they're the people who give you the documentation to get the work permit

all I'm saying is you can legally hold a work permit on a Non-O visa OR on a yearly extension based on marriage.

Anyone know what documents they will require for the work permit? Or does that depend on the type of work? I will be teaching FYI.

your employer will give them to you and they will either apply for you at the MOL or you will go. BUT that's not actually a thai VISA question.

In fact the advantage to keeping your marriage extension and just getting a work permit when you find work IS if you lose your job, your extension isn't affected at all because it's not issued based on employment, but on marriage ;)

you can legally hold a work permit on a Non-O visa based on marriage OR on a yearly extension based on marriage.

There is NO need to change your visa or your extension (as long as they're based on marriage)
