Hi All. Asking for my Japanese friend.

Can she get a work permit on Non-O (dependent visa)? She has a kid who got ED visa.

Or she needs to hold Non-B visa to be able to work?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Non-O (Dependent Visa) allows the holder to apply for a work permit in Thailand. As long as the visa is not tied to a foreigner spouse who works in Thailand, she can work legally.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES

A Non-Immigrant Type O <- the O means "other" visa is issued for a variety of reasons here; married to a thai national, raising half thai or foreign children here, being married to a foreigner who legally works here, volunteering, etc.

The only one that can't hold a work permit is the one based on being married to another foreigner who works here and that's because your Non-O and extension are tied to your spouse. All the rest of the reasons CAN legally hold a work permit.

Well that whole last paragraph is wrong. 90 day report can be done 15 days before till 7 days after, the fine is maximum 2000 Thb. And the report is for staying inside the country for 90 days or more. If you are abroad you are not staying in Thailand, so a strange observation that it is not required to report.
