What are the options for renewing a Non-O visa in Thailand without having 500,000 THB in a Thai bank account for 3 months?

Asking for a Japanese friend about her Non-O visa renewal this year (dependent one as a mother with a minor child who has ED visa). The visa will be expired in early July but she plans to get it done in early June.

What should she do or what options she has if she doesn’t put 500,000 B into her Thai bank account for 3 months prior? Can she still renew her visa?

Any advice is much appreciated! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Japanese expat in Thailand is seeking advice about renewing her Non-O visa as a dependent of a child on an ED visa. The visa expires in July, and she plans to renew it in June but hasn't maintained the required 500,000 THB in her Thai bank account for 3 months before the application. Options include visiting a Thai consulate to apply for a new Non-O visa, possibly leaving Thailand for a new 90-day visa, or exploring extension of stay options at the Immigration Office with updated requirements.

, she would need to go to a thai consulate and apply for a Non-O visa (just like she did before) using the same documentation she did before.

She can go to any thai consulate she wants to as long as she meets the requirements of that consulate to issue a Non-O visa based on being the parent of a child enrolled in school here on an ED visa.

I'd say start looking at the requirements at the various thai consulates in the area.

, "breaking the current extension, getting a new Non-O visa and starting all over from scratch is the only way I know to get around the 3 month seasoning requirements on that foreigner raising a foreign child extension.

Much Appreciated Tod.

She COULD, leave the country get a NEW 90 day Non-O visa, get stamped in for 90 days and then she'd only need the money in the bank for 30 days because it'd be the first year extension she'd be applying for.

Many thanks Tod.

So getting a new 90 day Non-O visa in which country? And her child needs to go as well? Needs to be in Japan?

Could you please explain more?

She has NO option to get an extension based on raising a foreign child here if it's her second year extension and she hasn't put the 500K baht in a thai bank account in her name only at least 3 months prior to her applying for the extension.

She can apply for the Extension of Stay, easiest way is to visit the Immigration Office and get the hand out with requirements.
