Does Immigration Have a Record of My Friend's Visa Extension After Losing His Passport?

I'll like to ask for a friend.

He has a passport from Taiwan and came on a 15 days Visa exempt but was extended for another 90 days (unsure what type of extension.

He lost his passport and wanted to apply an emergency passport from the local consulate after making a police report. He is planning to head home. He will be here ~50 days from his planned date of departure.

The question is:

Does immigration have a record of his extension. I'm afraid my friend might have to pay overstay fine due to the loss passport.

Your insights are appreciated. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about a friend from Taiwan who lost his passport after entering Thailand on a 15-day visa exemption, which was later extended for 90 days. The user is concerned whether immigration has a record of the extension and if the friend might incur an overstay fine. Community responses indicate that immigration likely has a record and that the friend needs to follow the necessary steps: file a police report, apply for an emergency passport at the consulate, and visit the immigration office to ensure the extension is noted before departing Thailand.

It sounds like the problem was solved, so I'm closing comments.

Just to update on the procedure.

Police report --》 consulate --》 immigration office for entry stamp

Then can fly off

Is that what you friend did?

thank you for the information. I'll just let him have both options and he'll decide for himself. Cheers

Got news for you, your taiwanese friend entered on a 15 day visa on arrival, and it sounds like he used an agency to get him the 90 day extension based on medical reasons (that's all I can think that'd give 90 days off a visa on arrival)

He needs to file a police report, get a new passport and GO to the immigration office where he got the 90 day extension. THEY have his information in the system and can put the stamps in the new passport.

thank you Todd. Much appreciated.

If my friend heads direct to the airport, high chances he'll get fined for overstay?
