My (Thai born) daughter in law is here ( NZ passport expires 7 months) visa exempt which she now realises expired on 29 March. She now has a new Thai passport as well. Can she go to Immigration, pay the overstay fine and have her new Thai passport stamped as currently in Thailand. Her NZ passport will only allow 1 extension before it becomes invalid for any new stamps anyway. With the Virus crap there's no telling how long she will need to stay here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring about the ability of their daughter-in-law, who is a Thai citizen but entered Thailand on an expired New Zealand passport, to resolve her visa situation. She is currently facing an overstay since her visa exemption expired on March 29. The community suggests that she can obtain a 1-year extension in her NZ passport based on her Thai citizenship, provided she pays a fee and presents necessary documentation. It is also noted that switching passports within Thailand is not allowed.
Thanks Tod. The extension will be limited to the valid expiry date of the passport correct...November something. And is this facility available on the 30day visa exempt entry stamp. I haven't had cause to check this out before this morning
She was told to go to the other place by the IO. She has two passports and ID card but not the birth certificate.house book (her Thai family don't want her to visit in case she's rampant with virus.
why would you go to the other place tomorrow? you could get that year extension today on the kiwi passport with her thai passport and birth certificate?
take her to the immigration office with the NZ and thai passport and her thai house book listing and they will sell her a 1 year extension based on her being thai for 1900baht and put it in the new zealand passport.
I'm closing comments. I think the OP knows that children under 15 years old don't get fined for overstays, and that she can also get a 1 year extension of stay based on being a Thai citizen for 1,900THB.
