Hi All,

Would be highly appriciate if you able to share your experience and knowledge on this since I could not find any similiar case within this reliable group.

My Mom's tourist visa will be expired on Sat, 19Feb with one exemption under consideration due to covid. And her flight will be on Mon, 21Feb. What is the possibility that she could have if we are not submit any other exemption? Do we have to pay an overstay fine and or she will get any trouble if she visit me again in the future? Also can we solve this before she goes in to the immigration area at the airport since she can not speak English and she will be fly on her own?

Thank you so much for any advise 🥰

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user's mom's tourist visa expires on February 19, but her flight is on February 21. Community members advised that she will incur a fine of 1,000 Thai baht for the overstay of 2 days, but the overstay stamp is not expected to affect her future visits to Thailand. It was also suggested that if she wants to extend her stay beyond February 19, she should apply for a COVID extension at a Thai Immigration office before that date.

If she is going to fly out of Thailand on February 21and her permission to stay stamp expires February 19th she will be fined 1,000 Thai baht for two days OVERSTAY by Thai Immigration as she clears immigration officer at the airport.

She will get an OVERSTAY stamp in her passport but that should not affect her future visits to Thailand.

If she is going to stay longer then she needs to go to her local Thai Immigration office and apply for a COVID extension before February 19th.

Hi
@James *******
, thank you so much for the input and duly noted with the fined. I was just wondering whether I can expect for some leniency considering 19th Feb is Saturday and her flight is on Mon, 21Feb but afraid she is not able to negotiate with the immigration officer inside. Any thought of this?

NOPE...she is Two Days OVERSTAY...PERIOD. Fine is 500 Thai baht per day. 1,000 Thai baht fine.

Every day counts...the airport is OPEN
