Question for my Irish/American friend.
(2 passports)
She holds a Multiple Entry 6 month Tourist Visa from New York Thai Embassy in her Irish passport.
She arrived January 8 and did not border-bounce because she thought she could stay for 6 month in a row, and was not aware of the 60-day rule.
(please, be kind, refrain from comments on her obliviousness .. she feels stressed enough already and it is me asking for her anyways)
How can she settle her overstay? She is on Koh Phangan ... and hard to get anywhere now and planned to stay 6 months.
Thank you! Ka
TLDR : Answer Summary
The friend has overstayed her Multiple Entry 6 month Tourist Visa by 19 days. She can either pay the overstay fine of 9,500 Baht and request a 30-day extension from the immigration office, or fly out and pay the fine at the airport. If she chooses to go to immigration, there is a risk of being detained or banned. It is advisable for her to act quickly, possibly seeking help from her embassy, particularly to obtain a COVID-related travel letter that may assist with her situation.
