TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, as a holder of a French passport, you are allowed to enter Thailand without a visa for short stays. You can travel to Laos for two weeks and return to Thailand if you comply with the visa exemption rules. It is noted that you will be transiting through Thailand when flying to Laos, and if your stays in Thailand are brief and you do not have a history of extended stays, you should encounter no issues with your travel plans.
As long as you do not have a history of prolonged stay in Thailand and your stays are short there should be no issues entering and exiting on vise exempt as above.
Assuming your "European" passport is issued by a nation whose passport holders are allowed to enter Thailand without a visa and you don't have a significant history in Thailand then you should be fine doing that. It would have helped if you mentioned what passport you actually hold
