Can I be denied entry to Thailand after multiple visa-exempt entries, and how do I handle my damaged passport?

Hi,

In mid-June, I entered Thailand by air from home on a 30-day visa-exempt stamp, stayed 5 days and flew to another country where I stayed about 3 weeks.

I re-entered Thailand by land on a 30-day exemption stamp and had to renew my passport once back in Bangkok because it got damaged. As soon as I get my new passport, I'm planning on flying out of Thailand for 2 or 3weeks, and come back in for a bit (2 weeks) before flying home for good.

A few questions:

1. Could I be denied entry to Thailand if I fly in for the 2nd time (for now I've come in once by air and once by land in a 3-week time span)?

2. Do I have to transfer my exemption stamp at immigration if I'm flying out anyway or can I just show up at the airport with my two passports? Keep in mind I'll have to come back to Thailand before flying home.

3. If I need to go to immigration for an exemption-stamp transfer, what do I need to bring except my 2 passports? Do I need a TM30? Is it at Laksi or CW?

It's so confusing! Thank you for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on entry to Thailand after multiple visa-exempt entries, the need to transfer immigration stamps due to a damaged passport, and documentation required for immigration processes. Comments indicate that entry should generally not be a problem as long as the user has not overstayed their visa exemptions. Recommendations include showing both the damaged and new passport when leaving and confirming the need for a TM30 when applying for extensions.

The issue is over staying, you are not even using the full time of your initial stamp on any of your entries

Iโ€™m not sure they will give you an extension with a damaged passport

I'm not sure I have another option if my new passport doesn't arrive on time, my current passport is damaged (biometrics work, only the photo of the info page has been smudged by water) so I can't get out of Thailand.

you may have to go to your embassy and get an emergency travel document

They don't provide that kind of paper, I'm already in rhe process of getting a new passport. Thailand immigration has already allowed me to come back in with a damaged passport so I don't see why they wouldn't allow me an extension while I have proof I'm waiting for a new passport. But I'm just hoping the new passport will arrive before the end of this month

your probably right the new 60 day exempt started around 4pm today so when you come back youโ€™ll get 60 if the right country and you can extend that for 30 more good luck and let us know how it all turned out

Show both passports when leaving and you wonโ€™t have any problems returning as you are not abusing the system

If your leaving you donโ€™t need the old stamp just show the old passport

Thanks, so they'll just restamp my old entry stamp on the new passport along with the exit stamp when I pass immigration at the airport?

I'm not sure about moving the stamp to your new passport, but as for entering the country again on another 30 day visa exempt, there shouldn't be any problem. Coming into Thailand by land on bisa exempt is limited to two times within the calendar year, but if you fly in you can do it up to six times (at least for my nationality).

If you want to get a 30 day extension, you need your TM 30, passport, one photo, and there are 3 forms you will have to fill out at immigration. You will need to submit copies of your passport and TM 30 as well.

Thank you! That's more than enough air entries for the year haha. Let's hope I won't need to go to immigration for an extension...

The TM30 has to be the most recent one I believe? Because I'll be travelling around this month and thus changing hotels quite a few times

I think so, but as long as you have one you should be fine. They've never asked me questions about it. The only time I had trouble was when I didn't have it because neither me now my husband (who's house I was staying at) knew about it ๐Ÿ˜‚

unlikely seeing as you weren't staying the full 30 days of the exempt stamps you did enter on and you didn't get the 30 day extensions on them either

Just have proof you're leaving from thailand when you return to the country

From what you explained you didn't take the 30 day extension on your entry stamp yet so no need to transfer the stamps

You can show both passports when you fly out without any issue at all.

Thank you! So that means that if I do an extension (I can't be sure I'll receive my passport within the next 20 days), I WILL have to go to immigration for a stamp transfer right?

@Ann ***
if you get an extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry (which in bangkok you'd do at IT Square Laksi Plaza) you SHOULD move the stamps before you leave, but they'll let you out of the country by just showing both passports

OK so that means I don't really HAVE to move the stamps then ๐Ÿค” But since I'll have to come back to Thailand afterwards, I guess I'll do it just to be safe (in case I get an extension on my visa exempt entry). Thanks again for your help :)
