Can I Use My Wife's Bank Account for the One-Year Non-Imm O Visa?

May 18, 2020
Hi, I was on a Non Imm O purposes of marriage 90 day plus 60 day. This expired 18th April so I’m now covered by the amnesty. When I can leave and return I’ll get the same from Hong Kong Consulate but I’d like to switch to a one year at Phuket immigration when back.

Is it true if I put 200k in my wife’s account rather than 400k in my own this will suffice? We also have a 6 month old daughter with my name who is not currently referenced in the visa. Would this make any difference to the deposit if she were?

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non Imm O visa for marriage and wishes to switch to a one-year extension upon returning to Thailand. They inquire about using 200k in their wife's bank account instead of the required 400k in their own account, and whether having a daughter affects this requirement.

If you are going to apply for a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai national at the immigration office using banked money you need 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

makes no difference whether you get the extension based on having a half thai child OR based on marriage to a thai. BOTH extensions require 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only.

IF you are using a joint account to get the extension you would need DOUBLE the amount required in the account (800K baht in a joint account to meet the 400K baht financial requirements for a marriage extension)
