Can you put Address in Country of Residence the same address as proposed address in Thailand on the application form? I don't know if that would cause any issues? Should I put my Canadian address?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a visa, you must provide an address that reflects your current residence, which cannot be in Thailand if you are not residing there at the time of application. It is advisable to use your actual Canadian address instead.

You can't be residing in Thailand at the moment of application. You need to write the address where you're supposedly living while applying for the DTV (and it can't be Thailand).

But if I write Canada wouldn't they ask why I didn't apply there? I am not residing in Laos also.

You apply at the country you're currently located, not necessarily at your "home" country.
