Hi All! This thread has been super helpful so far, so I wonder if anyone has any insight! Background: I'm a Canadian citizen who works remotely, but my banking is with a UK bank since I lived and worked there for the last few years. My freelance work is paid to my UK account.

Does anyone know if the bank statement needs to be in your home country, or do you have to prove residence in the country where your banking is?

Also, this may be a silly question, but is it possible to apply outside your home country? I am a professional traveller looking to make Thailand my home in the next while, but I am not planning on going back to Canada soon unless I need to get this visa.

Thanks all!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen with a UK bank account inquires about the requirements for a bank statement and proof of residence when applying for a visa to Thailand. Community members clarify that the bank statement does not necessarily need to be from their home country as long as the account is in their name and there is proof of address. They also mention that it is possible to apply for a visa from outside the home country, but need to confirm specific embassy regulations regarding applications from travelers.

As long as it’s in English it’s all good, bank account doesn’t need to coincide with nationality. But you will need address for same as bank account.

This is true for most countries, those in Asia will have slightly different rules from how we are seeing it work.

As long as your bank is in your name, and you have a proof of address, but I don’t think the proof of address needs to tie in with your bank

You can apply at other embassies. However, you will need to check with that specific embassy, as some allow travelers/tourist to apply there, while others only allow citizens/residents of that country/surrounding countries.

Almost certainly is not important so long as the address on the account is same as your proof of residency.
