Hey guys,

I applied for a new British passport a few weeks ago because my current one is almost full.

Got an email telling me it's ready for pickup but I won't be heading to Bangkok until next month. They said that's cool, we'll hold onto it.

My question is: Can I extend the Tourist Visa in my current passport or will it flag on their system as void or something?

Really hoping I don't have to do an emergency trip to Bangkok. :)

Answer summary

The user wants to know if they can extend their Tourist Visa in their old British passport while waiting to pick up their new passport. Responses confirm that it is possible to extend the Tourist Visa using the old passport, but international travel cannot be done with it.

, The company VFS Global is contracted by the UK consulate to issue passports to brits in thailand. This tells you how to do it. Even though it says it can take up to 4 weeks, most people get their new passport in a couple weeks.

Out of interest did you apply for new passport online or in person? Thanks

Try to have all the paperwork and photos done before you go. Also get photocopies because you need to get copies of every page in your passport and they'll charge you 25 baht per.

It's the Trendy Building near Nana BTS but you have to book an appointment via email first.

Do you mean the British Embasdy or Consulate rather than visa office? I need to get a new British passport soon for same reason.

I went to the visa office in Bangkok in person. I didn't even know you could do it online.

you can get your 30 day extension on a tourist visa without a problem on your old passport. What you can't do is travel internationally on it.
