Any here with a US passport have ever received a 7 day extension after a 30 day extension on a 30 day tourist visa exemption?

An employee at this hotel thankfully phoned and confirmed that is possible (I had a flight scheduled to a town where a "super typhoon" hit), but I want to MAKE COMPLETELY SURE that getting that extra 7 days Thai visa extension won't affect any future interactions with Thai immigration.

Thanks in advance for answering if have had one of those!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question concerns the possibility of a US passport holder obtaining a 7-day extension after a 30-day extension on a tourist visa exemption in Thailand. Responses indicate that while a formal 7-day extension does not exist, one might receive a stamp requiring them to leave Thailand within 7 days if their application for an extension is rejected. This could potentially affect future interactions with Thai immigration, as having such a stamp may complicate obtaining visas for other countries.

Read a report that someone somewhere had tried to get a visa for another country but was rejected because they had a Thai “visa application denied 7 day to leave stamp”. Can’t find the comment now so no idea what country, but it’s definitely not a stamp you want to have if you can help it.

There is no 7 day extension.

You can apply and get a 7 day "application rejected, you must leave Thailand in 7 days" stamp. It starts the day you apply and does not get added onto the end of your stay.

Also the immigration office is not required to accept the application and could just reject it and send you away.

So basically to stay 7 days past current date on stamp in passport and go straight to japan from here when it reopens next month it would seem necessary to basically visit the Thai immigration office on the last day or day before the last day of the Thai visa exemption stamp validity. That doesn't seem advisable.
