TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion involves a user's concern about the inability to extend their Thai visa using a temporary passport while waiting for a new one. Comments clarify that temporary documents may lead to a process where stamps can be transferred to the new passport once it arrives, but there may be specific conditions and procedures to follow with Thai Immigration.

The UK only issue ETDs (Emergency Travel Document) if you lose your passport and need to travel urgently. I would apply for the new one as quickly as possible, and you'll have to take the damaged one to Thai Immigration and see what they say.
