Is it true if im applying for new passport and my visa ends December 30th I cant extend on the temp one they give me until my new one arrives?

well i wasnt planning to travel back yet. I was told id get a temp one from bangkok they swap stamps i have to show immigration with a letter and when my proper english passport arrives from the uk i then get the stamp put in that one

The UK only issue ETDs (Emergency Travel Document) if you lose your passport and need to travel urgently. I would apply for the new one as quickly as possible, and you'll have to take the damaged one to Thai Immigration and see what they say.

Keep copy for yourself of visa and passport just for safety sake in case get stopped, i know you will have letter saying being renewed

They do swap stamps to the new one. You get a letter and you take it to Immigration.
