Hi, I'm planning to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) to enroll in a Thai culinary class. For the required funds, would it be acceptable if my boyfriend transfers a lump sum to my account? He's willing to provide a letter confirming that he gifted the funds to support my DTV application and culinary studies. Would this meet the requirements? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the acceptability of their boyfriend transferring funds into their account for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) application needed for enrolling in a Thai culinary class, specifically asking if a gift letter from the boyfriend would suffice. The responses suggest that it's usually sufficient to provide a bank statement showing 500,000 THB in the user's name, and that the source of funds may not need to be disclosed. It's recommended to submit multiple monthly statements to reflect the balance and verify the specific requirements with the applicable consulate, as interpretations may vary.
Check with the consulate or website you are applying at for the length of time they want to see the funds in your account, it varies from a day to 3 months to 6 months.
I don’t think a letter is needed. The Embassy does not need to know where the money came from. Not my personal experience, I read on some posts here (if you search with a keyword “500,000” or funds) people transfer the required amount from a brokerage account to their main account days before a monthly statement is issued so when they download the monthly statement the ending balance would show 500K baht. Personally, I submitted 3 monthly statements showing the required amount. Each embassy has their own interpretation of the requirement but to be safe, I would submit 3 monthly statements showing the required balance. Btw in my case I did not show the details, just a screenshot of the summary page. Good luck!
