TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation reveals differing opinions on whether a Thai bank account statement can be used for the DTV visa application when the funds originate from outside Thailand via wire transfers. Most responses affirm that it is acceptable, with some users sharing personal experiences of successfully using their Thai bank accounts for the application. Concerns were raised regarding the scrutiny of funds to avoid misinterpretation of income from Thai companies, which may pose a problem with local accounts. However, the overall agreement suggests that using a Thai bank account is feasible, especially since the DTV requirement is based on THB, avoiding conversion issues.

Sure. Makes it easier because the amount you need is based on THB thus no need to convert or put an extra $1000-3000 to cover unexpected exchange rate losses or poor exchange rates used by the consulate you're applying at. I don't think anyone is looking for where the money is coming from; you could simply show that funds (from wages/overheads/salaries etc.) are being credited to a foreign account but they're not going to ask how the funds arrived in Thailand.

We used our Thai bank account. Also got the bank certificate notarized from the branch just in case. Got DTV from Hanoi

Many people have Thai bank accounts including me. I'll be showing the funds on my Thai account but I'm also bringing along multiple foreign account statements to show invoices/salary/wages being paid to my foreign accounts.

Anonymous participant non-Ed visa. They would see stamps on our passport anyways that we have been here 2 years. They didn’t seem to care as long as all paperworks are sufficient and over 500K is in the bank

I applied in Ho Chi Minh. Yes, my visa got approved and I'm already back in Thailand. They didn't ask anything to me. I applied with a Remote Work. They only checked the last balance even though they asked for 6 months statement. I only had 500K for 1 month.

I would side towards yes. Is weird some ask for a rental contract in Thailand when it’s ‘for’ Thailand. I would guess an international one is better, but haven’t heard anyone have a problem with Thai bank.

Anonymous participant The issue it would bring up, is that they would have to look more closely to make sure you’re not being paid by a Thai company. Where an international account wouldn’t flag that issue as obviously. So I would personally side towards transferring to an international one, also, because of the tax benefits of not having one I would prefer people all just shut their Thai accounts and switch to Revolut and Wise. But it should be fine, just not ideal would be my feeling.
