What bank statements should I provide for the DTV application in Thailand?

Dec 31, 2024
Hi All,

I have a quick question regarding the DTV application. I meet all the requirements (assuming the rules haven’t changed recently! 😄). Specifically, I’ve already transferred the required 500K THB from my business account to my personal bank account (WISE) 15 days before applying.

Should I provide bank statements for both my business account and my personal account, or is the personal account sufficient? For context, the business account is under my US LLC, where I am the sole member, and it’s where I receive payments for my services. Additionally, my company also has investments in crypto and other assets. Would providing this information help strengthen my application?

Thank you for your guidance!

Best regards, and happy new year!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the necessary documentation for the DTV application in Thailand, specifically whether to provide bank statements for both their business and personal accounts, noting they transferred funds to their personal account ahead of the application. Responses indicate that only the personal bank statement is required, but showcasing income from the business account and tax registration could strengthen the application. There are concerns raised regarding the use of Wise as a banking service, as it may not be viewed as a legitimate bank by authorities.

If the rules of the group accepts anonymous posts, why do some people (always the same gossips ) insist on knowing your identity? Why is it important for my question? Am I asking something illegal ?
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer of course it is not illegal to ask questions anonymous, but I can understand it is unpleasant for others.

I sometimes react on anonymous posts, but often ignore them because somebody who needs to hide identity, I not always trust to answer

It is about answering the question or not, who cares about your opinion about anonymous users ? Some people just wanna make them important , so don't waste people's time commenting on anonymous posts👎, have a nice year
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer Personally I think when you post anonymous you get less answers.

When everybody would do so discussions would be quite confusing, don't you think

Don’t use Wise it’s not an official bank 🙏🏽

My experience: Rejected due to WISE isn't physical bank.... They accept only physical banks...(???) (applied @Finland)
Luit *****************
@Jukka *****
I don't think you were rejected because Wise is not a physical bank, but Wise just is not a bank at all.

I know some applications with Wise are accepted, but not all.

I don't think an online bank is a problem, I showed also an account of an online bank without problems.

You were rejected because WISE , sure? I know people who used WISE for the application without issues.
John **********
Anonymous participant Wise is not a bank so shouldn't be accepted but I've seen a few instances where it was. It'll be up to the person assessing your application whether they accept it or not. Same for Revolut I believe
Jukka ******
That was my case - I know diffent embassy has some variations how they interprets those rules.... 🤷🙏

Can you share where ? I will go Ho Chi Mingh soon , maybe it was a WISE bussines account?
Jukka ******
Personal account, applied @Finland.... But as I said: it might be embassy/person- related interpretation.... Just an example how much variation there might be....🙏

Thanks for sharing, unfortunately I only have a USDT account in WISE and Revolut, will try to apply with that.
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer Wise is not a bank, Revolut is.

You need the 500k in a personal account, but if you're applying under workcation it would help if you can show the income you generate and match it to entries in your business account. If you can also show you are registered for tax, even a tax return, so much the better. I don't think they would care about investments unless they're generating income for your company

Thank you very much for your response. This topic is a bit sensitive for me as I operate a US-based LLC that doesn’t pay taxes in the US since I’m not a US resident. In Thailand, I’ve paid my taxes for

on the income I brought into the country, which makes things a bit confusing.

I also came across another post here from members with similar concerns, which adds to my curiosity and confusion.

Thanks again for your insights!

Anonymous participant you still have to file a return for the LLC in the USA even with zero income or you get penalties

Nope, this is another different question mate , but it depends where state in the US is your company registered, if you are from the US or not , etc... anyway in 2023 I did not have activity, so my LLC did not make money, but in 2024 I had, so I have to wait to April.

For your information (I am a non US resident, but like I said, this discussion is not for the DTV forum)

"As a single-member LLC (SMLLC) in New Mexico with non-U.S. residency, you generally are not required to file a U.S. tax return unless your LLC is earning income effectively connected with a U.S. trade or business or if you have other U.S.-sourced income."

Anonymous participant the IRS fined me for non filing. Good luck with everything.

Did you pay taxes in another country? are you a US resident? Do you have customers in the US? Everything depends mate. I also cannot fill anything in the US till April 2025 (cannot travel to the future sorry ::) ), in 2023 my LLC had CERO activity so I filled the correct form saying that (I do not remember the number and name of the form sorry).
John **********
Anonymous participant I'm no expert on US LLCs but as I understand it there's no need to pay US tax as the income can flow to you personally and you then pay the tax in the various jurisdictions where you are liable for tax. I've no idea what these would be for you but if you bring income into Thailand while a tax resident Thailand would be one of these. But it does beg the question as to what visa you have been on in Thailand up till now that allows you to stay here long term and to work there.

Yeah sure, I only pay tax in Thailand for the money I bring to the country, not for the money I invest abroad, or leave in the business account (US). That part is pretty clear to me, but if they ask for tax payments , it could be tricky to explain and proof.
John **********
Anonymous participant its why I asked the question about what visa that you have been on in Thailand, you've obviously been here a long time if you've paid taxes. That can only be for 2023 as 2024 has not yet finished

@John *********
I have paid them voluntarily for 2022 and 2023, and I am here with a family visit visa, but the DTV is more convenient for many reasons.
John **********
Anonymous participant sorry I'm guessing that is either a Non-O based on being married to a Thai or having a Thai kid? I don't really see how that would cause you any problems in a visa application as the Thai Revenue Department has already accepted the situation, even if it is a bit of a grey area.

I am also participating in a tech camp project (without getting paid)(blockchain event) in Thailand since November, 2024, should I ask for a supporting letter to the camp organisers? It could help ?
John **********
Anonymous participant that sounds like you should have a work permit for that, whether you are paid or not is immaterial.

Working permit for studying? Wuau first time I heard something like that. I am not a camp teacher I am a student. The company who organises this is not Thai also, the event is in a different country every year.
John **********
Anonymous participant sorry if I misread your post but you said you were participating in the camp project which didn't sound like studying. I guess it will depend on the status of the project and the extent of your participation

It is part of the event, a blockchain camp is something for studying and practicing as well, and the company is not Thai also, there are events, conferences, etc..

is ridiculous, don't answer and that's it, people have reason to be anonymous and it is not your business why they do. If you cannot or don't want to answer the question, don't waste people's time, thanks.

Anonymous participant I guess why we don't tend to answer anonymous calls, or deal with things we can't see and trust, why banks give advice, and that's my choice if I follow those principles.
