Can I apply for a 60-day extension after my 90-day Non-O visa expires before applying for a 1-year extension based on marriage in Thailand?

Hi, I'm about to get married to a Thai man (outside of Thailand) and I'm planning to come to Thailand with a 90 day Non O visa based on marriage later this year.

I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to apply for the 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family when my 90 day visa expires? And then apply for the 1 year extension based on being married to a Thai after the extra 60 days?

Or do I have to apply for the 1 year extension right away when my 90 day visa expires?

(The reason I don't want to go for the 1 year extension right away is that I don't want to deal with the extension around Christmas every year in the future. So I'm trying to move the expiration date 2 months forward by first applying for the 60 day extension.)

I hope my question makes sense, thanks in advance 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to marry a Thai citizen and enter Thailand on a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage. They inquire whether they can apply for a 60-day extension for visiting Thai family after the 90-day visa expires, followed by a 1-year extension based on marriage, instead of applying for the 1-year extension immediately. Comments confirm that applying for the 60-day extension before the 1-year extension is feasible, and it is a common practice among expats.

You should be able to, that is what I did recently, came in on 30 day visa free, ext another 30 days, then 60 day thai family and then finally Non O. In fact this was actually the way my immigration office told me to do it, seems quite common I have been seeing people on here commenting often about doing it this way.

, She is asking when she entered on Non-O, not enter as a tourist. (I just mentioned that as another possible option)

If you meet the requirements, you don't have to apply for any extension between visa-exempt entry and in-country Non-O.

Or another possible option might be entering Thailand on Single entry tourist visa for 60 days then apply for an in-country Non-o marriage. You will be able to have 30 days tourism extension & 60 days family extension as options to adjust your schedule.

Just a thought…

You shouldn't have any issue at all getting the 60 day visit thai family extension when you come here on the 90 day Non-O based on marriage at your immigration office for 1900baht .

Thanks! I will most likely apply for the 60 day extension in Bangkok. Do you know when the 60 days would start? Will it be from the day that I apply? Or the day that my 90 day Non-O visa actually expires?

it will be added to the expiration date of your 90 day entry stamp ( it has nothing to do with the expiration date of your Non-O visa at all)
