What’s involved in changing the expiration date on a Non-O retirement visa. Mine expires annually on December 29 and I would like to move it back to October 15. Can this be done and how?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Changing the expiration date of a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand is generally not possible. According to community insights, you cannot simply adjust your visa's expiration date to a date you prefer. The common approach suggested is to either wait until your next annual extension to request a shorter term (though this is uncertain), or to exit Thailand without a re-entry permit and reapply for a new visa from scratch.

I was told you cannot extend or shorten it but you can apply for it up to two and a half months prior and still get the same extension date

The earliest day you can apply for an extension is 45days before your due date (date on your stamp), not two months

Yeah I get it but you can't change it so this is the next best thing in other words he doesn't have to be in Thailand in December can do it in October

You are correct. My objective is to not have to be in Thailand to renew in December or late November.

But he doesn't want the December date! Read his post. He wants to change it

When applying early, the extension will be added onto your current extension, so that doesn't help the OP

Two and a half? I’d always heard one and a half or just one some places.

I have never ever seen someone be able to successfully change their extension date 😕

About all you could do is when you go for the next yearly extension is ask them IF they'll give you less than a year (so that it will expire on the 15 of Oct (shorting you almost 2

months on the year) <- That is the ONLY way it might work and still it's iffy..

Other than that you do as Robert suggested and exit/re-enter without a re-entry permit and start all over from zero

I do not think Immigration will allow you to cancel your 1 year Extension of Stay and apply again for a new 1 year Extension of Stay just because you do not like the last day.

The only way is to leave Thailand without a Re-Entry Permit and start all over again.
