Can I trust my landlord's information about TM-30 requirements for a COVID visa extension in Thailand?

Hello, everyone. I’m hoping to extend my COVID extension for a third time this week (I initially arrived on visa exempt). I’m currently on Koh Tao and hope to do the extension at their office here. When trying to get everything in order, I asked my landlord if he filed my TM-30, which I doubt he did because he didn’t ask me for my passport when I moved in. He didn’t know what it was and said he would go talk to a friend at the immigration office if it was needed. He got back to me yesterday and said his friend said I was fine to go extend at the office. My question is - is it safe to trust his information and believe the office is that lenient or should I try to get a TM-30 filed by another accommodation on the island? I want to avoid getting my extension rejected.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Koh Tao is seeking advice on extending their COVID visa for the third time, expressing doubts about their landlord's knowledge of TM-30 filing requirements. Community responses suggest that while some immigration offices might be lenient, not all require a TM-30. Users recommend verifying directly with immigration and advise caution regarding reliance on the landlord's statements. Ultimately, the expat received guidance and successfully completed their visa extension.

Get a print out of the registration and have him sign it, take it with you to immigration.

I used the one in Koh Tao in December and they are very relaxed and did not ask for a TM30 but make sure you have your photograph and photocopy of your passport and entry card😎

Koh Tao immigration are extremely friendly and helpful. One of the best. I think you'll be ok.

You can stay in a hotel and get them to do a screen shot and print it for you. They can file it for you very quickly.

no problem. The hotel tm30 I think looks like the 2end or 3rd one

How did you get your other extensions

It’s up to the individuals immigration officer whether they will give the Covid extension

They are cracking down on giving them

What about going to the immigration office and simply ask what they require for an extension?

Not all offices ask for a TM30.

Oh I didn’t realize not all offices asked for it. Thank you, I’ll try that.

Everyone must file a TM30 when they have a foreigner stay with them. It doesn't matter whether it is a hotel, an Airbnb, or staying with family, or a friend, it must be reported within 24 hours. A bigger question is you said you initially intered on a visa exempt stamp. During your time here did you ever change to a different visa, like an ED visa, or a volunteer visa, or anything else besides the visa exempt stamp? If you did you can no longer get a covid extension even though you've gotten two others

I don’t believe I’ve changed visas. I arrived on visa exempt, got a 30 day extension on that visa, and have done COVID extension twice since then
