TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about the possibility of traveling out of town after applying for a non O marriage visa extension. It is generally acceptable to leave town, as immigration offices usually schedule home visits in advance and do not conduct surprise visits. However, there are exceptions, as noted by a commenter who experienced an unannounced visit. Overall, most individuals reported that leaving town after the application is submitted does not typically pose an issue.

No disrespect to Brandon but they did a surprise visit to me in Ubon when I did my extension. They said “in a week or two” and just showed up a few days later.

We were not there. We were in Pattaya. They didn’t care. We did it via FaceTime with my mother in laws phone. No issues at all. They were able to speak to her, neighbors, others in the village that could confirm the bald falang does and has live there.

It was very surprising they just showed up because the village was a two hour drive away from the immigration office.

that's unusual because normally they want to ensure you'll be home with your spouse and that neighbors will be available to speak to etc

Thanks for the info.

They should contact you ahead of time if they want to schedule a home visit, that way they can ensure both you and your wife will be home. They don't do "surprise" visits, so you should be fine to leave town.
