Dear community 🙏

Is there someone who has applied for a dtv after the ed-visa has expired? Is there a possibility to apply for an dtv-visa (and get approved) if I was on a one year ed-visa?

My ed- visa will expire in January next year and I am wondering if I can apply for dtv-visa after the ed-visa has expired.

Any help is appreciated 🙏❣️

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a DTV visa after your ED visa has expired. Several community members have successfully transitioned from an ED visa to a DTV visa, with some even managing to obtain the DTV while their ED visa was still valid.

Yes, of course. They are separate visas. I completed a one year Ed visa and was approved for DTV recently 🙏🏻

Jakarta. I wanted to do it in person to avoid any online complications/delay. If you want to do the same your options are Jakarta also (before they go online in 2 weeks) or else Taipei. All the other consulates have since gone online - I assume partly because of the demand for this visa.

yeah, that is where I was thinking to go. I have one more question. A proof of income - did you have to give a proof of your income for the past six months ? As edu visa prohibits any kind of work, I am wondering how to go about it. I saw Jakarta is asking for 6 months of bank statements showing income. Thanks

I acquired DTV via soft power option. One month bank statement showing closing balance above 500k bhat was the only financial document required.

There is a lot more uncertainty/vagueness/inconsistency with required documents for digital nomads/remote workers/freelancers especially between embassies. It's understandable if the embassy declines otherwise if one is working on a prior education visa. Maybe someone else can advise you.

this is how I understand it. You need 500k baht and a proof of income . I am trying to figure out what other people who were also on edu visa did about it.
